The artistic programmes behind Talent House Amsterdam
Talent House Amsterdam provides housing to young artists taking part in two prestigious traineeship programmes of Dutch National Opera & Ballet.
The National Opera Studio is a two-year programme, comparable to a traineeship, that prepares young professional singers and répétiteurs for an international opera career. The Opera Studio combines workshops and coaching with opportunities to gain professional stage experience, for example through solo roles and recital performances. The carefully selected participants work within the professional environment of Dutch National Opera and, in addition, receive individual coaching in every aspect of their professional development.
The Junior Company of Dutch National Ballet is a two-year programme, comparable to a traineeship, that prepares young professional dancers for an international dance career. The Junior Company combines workshops and coaching with opportunities to gain professional stage experience, for example through solo roles and smaller-scale performances. The carefully selected participants work within the professional environment of Dutch National Ballet and, in addition, receive individual coaching in every aspect of their professional development.
As a participant in this programme, the budding professional musician is given the opportunity to gain practical work experience in a symphony orchestra over a period of ten months, including playing in the orchestra, performing chamber music with members of the orchestra, taking instrument lessons and taking part in various workshops (including audition training). Participation in the Academy’s programme is therefore of an introductory nature for the trainee, with the explicit aim of learning and gaining experience through participation. The learning objective and the temporary nature of participation in the programme are paramount.
